I whole-heartedly agree. I thought this game was supposed to be skill>hours played. Having Granite, Grotto, FoW, or UW armor should reflect how good you are at playing the game, not how many hours you spend mindlessly doing the same thing over and over. Until they implement something like that, drops need to improve.

1) Reducing availability of items hurts legit PvE playing.
2) Reducing drops of gold increases the value of gold in the game.
3) Botters will always have an advantage if time must be invested to get things - the only way to defeat botters is to make it so that time spent doesn't get you things - if you do that there will be no botting.
4) To make it so that time spent doesn't reward you need to have all items available through questing essentially - maybe long/difficult quests, and maybe only have the reward available once per player - but if there were an outpost that was in the southern shiverpeaks for example, which granted one of several cool armour types as a reward, but had a party limit of 4 - you would find it tough to do, and those who accomplish it will have the armour. Not a matter of time, but skill. No runs to collect shards, no gold based economy, just whether you can put a group of half the size together and do something tough.

You will need LOTS of quests like that to replace grinding, but it could be done. The unfortunate part is that the crafting system, the collectors to some extent and the gold being used as a tradable resource encourage farming/botting. If you don't want tit you need to redesign the game so that gold isn't relevant. So that items aren't dropped, as that is merely the same philosophy - spend time killing to get stuff. It stresses the time spent, and encourages solo play. If you want to discourage that the enemies need to be worth the same XP regardless of the number in the party, the drops should be no better when alone, and in fact a drop-based system sshould be abandoned. If you want a drop based system, and wish to reward the tougher play with fewer party members, you have virtually no choice but invest in a farming/grinding mentality, as drops themselves cause the problem of farming.
enough said.

Although I didn't notice a nerf in the latest patch, I'm still all for this.

PvE is becoming so stupid it's embarrassing. I think I'm going to tell my friends to no longer get this game. Once you get to level 20 which can be done fairly early outside of Beacon's Perch, you go and beat the game. And you're done. No point in UW and FoW unless you want your character to look good, and good luck spending like 500k on materials for it when every run you'll end up getting 3-4 demonic remains that sell for 20 each. Oh goodie... that'll make up for the 1000 gold I spent to just get there.

Players are getting better, able to go into the UW and FoW with fewer and fewer players. Players who probably spent endless hours perfecting their builds, because afterall this is a game of SKILL isn't it? All of that time spent gone to waste because everythng that drops is all garbage now. IF anything drops at all.

I have literally nothing to look forward to anymore with this game. I do griffin runs just because I like to see numbers across the screen. The drops are a bonus because I really don't care for the FoW armour anyway. I'm going to get it because eventually my gold will become maxed and I might as well do something with it.

I'm just trying to figure out which game went to hell first, Diablo II or this?

I'd say this game's economy went to hell before Diablo II, because it was infact the game company that caused it...Diablo II's destroyed itself because of the players and their duping.

I don't agree with farming. But if we don't have another way to recive gold then it is to a point nessesary.
People farming solo, In my opinion, is just not on. People however being forced to farm as a group is, in my opinion, A good thing.
Maybe Anet could creat another area, One with much more random AI (PatrolPaths, monster groups etc.)
Say A little less difficult then the underworld but had a wide varity of monsters that would spawn and patrol in random locations. Make it a challenge but also make the drops a bit better. Also make it so that only players of 8 human players would be aloud to enter.
Farming solo is just boring. I won't sign this petition because It seems to want easy, solo farming.

What else is funny... is all those that do find other farming spots (which i have found one! *shout in mind*) won't ever release their secrets now... bots become frantic, and farmers go mad at the area's... and instead of fixing the problem... they fix the loot. It hurts me to not be able to share my secrets with anyone... and i mean... anyone...

I liked the riverside farming... i mean... you at least had to run half way through a mission to get to the good rune farming spot... what was so wrong with that... (it was also in a place where you didnt "have" to go)... so all they had to do was make it harder... rather then making it a pointless place to go to.

I'll say this much... find a place where you know nobody goes... and you'll find, not only chests like mad... but monsters that drop golds more frequently then all the "nerfed" places...

*Bottom line* Go to fissure/underworld if you want items by luck (since party members all have a chance of getting those great items that drop rarely) -- And if you do by chance find a good farming spot, don't tell anyone! Even if your mother asks...

I am strongly against having the best items and such handed to everyone on a silver platter, but nontheless, I am starting to go with the majority now. With this new patch, the somewhat counter-productive farming I WAS doing doesn't even yield easily sellable raw materials anymore.

1) ArenaNet creates a great game with no monthly fee.

2) People play it until the end game and start farming.

3) ArenaNet nerfs the farming spots AND the drops.

4) Players leave because they are bored.

5) Bored players don't buy the expansion (and neither do their friends who they introduced to GW when it was FUN).

6) Community dies! <

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!!

It's blunt but precisely to the point. People like farming and killing insane amounts of monsters in this fantasy world. It's a game for christs sake.

Are you really so paranoid about the economy that you feel the need to nerf everything?
If it's the ebay people who you are concerned about, gets your asses on to ebay and find out who they are. Make an example of the few and the many will stop.
Would you rather find a solution or destroy this game which you created?

You gave us the skills and the monsters but you never thought that people would grind and seek as much repetition as they could from the monsters?!
I'm sorry but have you people played another online mmorpg or whatever?

It's what people do. Stop kissing the backsides of the PvPers all the time while punishing the rest of us for having fun when we reach a brick wall at the end of the game.

/signed and very annoyed.

(Sort it out before it's too late)

The only way I actually have a bit of money is because I bought some ecto when it was cheap. BEFORE the nerf. Now it's impossible to get anything...

*Not Signed by me*

Before everyone flames me to death for coming here and not signing let me explain my self.

I can think of several reasons Anet is nerfing farm spots and here they are:

1. To prevent inflation on item sales. This happened in Everquest Online Adventures (PS2). When I left low level quest armor was going for 10k each and many many items were in the 10millions. Now where does that leave newbs?

Heres a senario: A newbie just enters the game and is trying to get some moderately decent stuff, lets say a clean Dragon Sword. Well a level 20 could come up to you and say "I got one, the normal going price is 10k for one so thats how much I'll charge". Now this isn't even that farfetched either I have seen people spamming in Lion's Arch "Fiery Dragon Sword Clean for 6k". At that rate we could be seeing Fellblades clean go for 50k by the end of the year and I don't think anybody wants that.

2. To prevent people from a massing stock piles of gold and selling it for real cash on certain MMORPG selling sites (Won't mention).

3. To make getting that 15k armor a little bit harder. Just about every level 20 you see these days has their 15k armor and that makes the all mighty end game armor seem a little less "all mighty". Anet might be trying to make it so that if you have the 15k armor then you really are "Hardcore" or have devouted the time to getting the 15k stuff.

Also one last thing, stop crying that you can't make 10k an hour I can only make 1k an hour and thats if I'm lucky.

So in conclusion from what I see and have experienced in past MMORPGs what Anet is doing isn't bad for the game.
